hey guys i have an alienware m17xr3 and I started getting a lag whenever i play any media.
for example wen I play any music on windows media player it stops for a second or two in the begining and then continues and when watching any movies or even watching any videos online it just stops for a few secs and continues.

    any ideas ?
    thnx

Drivers and codecs are usually the problems. Easiest might be codecs. I suggest either KLite or CCC as I use them. Drivers are a hit or miss it appears, considering the amount of problems people are having with the latest versions. I don't have any issues with the drivers myself so I can't really comment.

yes these problems started when i installed some video codec from some site but the thing is i reformatted my system and am still having the same problem.
The only things I have installed are microsoft directx sdk june 2010,steam and visual studio and vlc.
think those are having something to do with this?

Which antivirus software are you using?
Is it McAfee? If yes, than that's the problem.
