If you're talking about the R2 yes it does have an integrated microphone(both right and left side of the webcam).
Can you also be more specific about your intel Wifi card?
    Congrats on your purchase.

To test if you have microphone input you can simply go to Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound > and under the Recording tab your microphone should be listed.
Now slightly tap/touch your screen near the webcam or just say something and you should see the bar next to the microphone filling itself as the intensity of the sound goes higher.

And as for the Wifi problem: i think you should change the channel in your router(if you have the option to do so),to the same as the Wifi card, but generally a wireless card will automatically connect to a wireless network without the need of specifying the IP address of the router or set the channel. Also you can try uninstalling the Intel ProSet Wireless Software and do a fresh install with the latest version.

That means you don't have any issues!
If you still don't get mic input signal check your volume level in Control Panel or in system tray.
Also don't be sorry that's why forums are for. Don't hesitate to come look for help any time you need it.
    Cheers!

The Alienware site also (for the moment) labels the R3 as R.3 or something. The R2 is the one they're still selling as new. R1's you can only get at outlets and things like that.

Biggest difference between the R1 and R2 is the motherboard. This causes them to have slightly different BIOS, support slightly different video cards, and two different generations of processors. The chassis is mostly the same IIRC.

The R3, OTOH, is apparently plastic, only holds one video card, has a redesigned chassis (plastic), lesser screen, the newest generation of processors, and...it's slightly cheaper than the R2. O yeah, it can hold up to 4x the RAM (32GB), which you'll need a higher version of Windows for, and won't ever use unless your rendering the newest CG movie for some big movie company, but you'll need better video cards for that,..lol.
