    Hi,

I bought an alienware m17x r3 for my girlfriend a while ago but there is a weird white bar appearing sometimis on top of the screen. There is a screenshot down below.

The desktop background seems to be showing fine. Its just when you open a window (firefox/explorer/...) it will appear on the top. If you minamize firefox on drag it to the top of the screen it will reset itself to just under the bar like something is pushing it down. This also is kinda random when the laptop boots it seems to be fine but as soon as something goes to full screen like a game starts en then shuts dozn the white bar is there.

Also everything you put in full screen (games/media players/...) shows normal on the full screen. Anyone know what the problem could be? We already installed the latest grafic drivers from the DELL website.

grafic card is an AMD 6870m with the 1600 *900 screen

I believe its your firefox theme , try reinstall.

Or try change aero color at right click , properties. it should be transparent usually.

It's AlienRespawn. I had the same issue. look up msconfig and disable it on startup and it should fix itself.

Just for clarification, I don't believe it's listed as AlienRespawn in msconfig. I think it may be Dell Backup, but that is exactly what is causing your issue.
