my LCD screen just broke .. help me how to replace it !!

HI guys ,
my LCD screen from my alienware just broke last few days , i just want to replace it so i go to ebay and search for some second-hand LCD screen . but the problem is there is so many kind of screen like : alienware M17x LCD screen glossy 17.1' or M17x r2 17" WUXGA LED LCD PANEL ... , .... how can i choose the right thing just like my current screen ? thanks guys .

 

What alienware do you have ? It's an 17" ? It's an aluminium one ( r1 and r2 ) or soft touche one ( r3 and r4 ) , the last one with led stripe on lid cover ( r5 ) ? If you have the R1 or R2 go for the RGB led one. For the other be carefull with the 3d / non 3d screen things.

Do you have some skill in laptop modding and things ? For exemple in the R2 you have tu unmount a lot of things before acessing to the screen hinge screw. Just saying ...

So the best screen for this one is the RGB LED one, be carefull to buy one with cable and things, CCFL one and RGB one doesn't have the same cable. Generally they are sell in a block and you just have to mount your LID cover.

To do the swap you will have to unmount a lot of things, power buton board, keybord, palm rest , wifi and blue tooth card , both graphics card , main grey plate. Be carefull and gentle , palm rest and power button board have some tiny plastic clips that break easly, for the other it's pretty straight forward nothing impossible.

Mount the LID cover before installing the new screen , you can't acces the screws when it's mounted on the laptop.

There's a matte 1200p panel. Glossy is currently out of stock. If the pins on your laptop match either one shown on the website I linked, you have an idea of which to buy.

 

u mean i have to dissamble my laptop to make sure my screen is RGB . where can i find that ? can u help me go to ebay and find some good for me ? just example , so i can follow ur recommend . sorry about my bad english .

 

thanks Game7a1 , thats a big help . by the way , i just go in your link and the one toto29620 said is the first one right ? it said RGB LED . what is the different between RGB LED and WUXGA ? all these 2 types is for M17x R2 too ... and the price is many differents too . i bought this alienware around 4 years ago .

 

They are both WUXGA , the differnce is in the backlight , Led / CCFL .

You can buy the screen itself without the bezel and stuff but you have to know what type of screen you actually have , cable are not the same.

For your infos, the RGB LED cable is the HP693 one, just type it on ebay.

If you wanna change only the screen buy a new glass in the same time , for 20 $ , you will most likely scratch your actual one.
