    hi i have recently installed amd 11.6 driver but in the device manger it still shows 8.763.0.0 8/10/2010 sorry for the stupid question this is my first laptop equipped with ati card

    Steps to a successful Driver Install:

    First go and download "driver sweeper" and "Ccleaner" from the interwebs and install them. Once you've done that:

    1) open up your 11.6 driver installer, and then click uninstall. Just select the express uninstaller and completely uninstall all AMD / ATI stuff.

    2) go to device manager and right click the 5870 and click uninstall.

    3) reboot into safe mode and use "driver sweeper" to clean the AMD driver.

    4) boot into normal windows and run "ccleaner" registry fixer to clean out all remaining AMD registry stuff.

    5) run the 11.6 installer one more time and Install everything. You will now be on the latest driver and have a clean install of it as well.

    i did what you told me step by step but it didn't work now i have another problem what should i do.
