hey guys, recently got a new 7970m as an early christmas present and so i decide to install it. The first thing that i've noticed after i placed the card in, the monitor on my laptop does not work (hdmi on an external monitor does work however) and my gpu fans are constantly blasting at full speed. no matter what i do, the monitor for my laptop just does not work!

I got the card from upgradeyourlaptop btw, its a Dell OEM 7970m based on the description. any advice would be really helpful.

edit: nvm, flashed an older bios a9 and everything seems to work perfectly now. it seems that my motherboard might be the issue here. was THIS close to switching back to my 680m too but oh well :D

Don't upgradeyourlaptop have a reputation of selling clevo cards flashed with a dell vbios as dell cards?

i asked him and he said the one's he sold are original dell OEM ones not clevo with dell vbios flashed.

altho i mentioned earlier that flashing a9 helped, the issue returned after i restarted my com, weird  however reflashing seems to make it work again and now im monitoring to see if there are any changes

Quick question on the side - why did you change your 680 for a 7970? It seems that their performance is pretty much on par, but the 7970 suffers from unstable drivers, at least in a higher grade than the 680.

i intended to sell off my 680m to a good friend of mine depending on how the 7970m works, and yes i am aware of 680m being better with the drivers and such too :D

did a 3dmark11 run with stock clock and WOW i scored 6.4k http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/5294173

much MUCH higher than my stock volt/clock 680m

hello, for that test i have throttlestop turned on therefore the physics score is higher, otherwise it would be at 6.1-6.2k score too. so you're all good and its pretty normal :)

TDP/TDC that I used is 95/62, are you perhaps using a 920xm? my 940xm does have higher stock clocks

hmmm then you are using the exact same config as me.... but don't worry too much about it because 100-200 scores doesnt make much of a noticeable difference. some other people scored only 5.9k with the new 12.11 beta. for reasons unknown we managed to score slightly higher.
