my son just got his Alienware 17 spec:
    Internal Performance Components:
    Processor: 4th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-4800MQ processor (6MB Cache, up to 3.7GHz)
    Memory: 16GB Dual Channel DDR3L at 1600MHz
    Hard Drive: 750GB SATA 3Gb/s (7,200 RPM) + 256GB mSATA SSD Caching
    Video Card: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 780M with 4GB GDDR5
    WLED 3d screen

what supposed to come in the box? when they shipped it said 2 shipment and I asked dell support they said it a mistake.
My son said he supposed to get a 3d glass with it but it not in the Alienware box .
He check the whole box only the computer and dvd and power adapter.
he checked the setting on the displayed and it show the 3d configuration. so I don't reaaly know how to check to see if it has the WLED that I order for him. If it is the right pc do they shipped
3D glasses in a different shipment? on my order receipt it show WLED .
Who should I contact ? the sale rep or dell support? try to do the support chat but they are closed.

Hi there and glad you got your system. Unfortunately you have few things you may not be aware of. If your screen is glossy, that means you have got the 3D screen. If not, then you have only the 1080p screen and if that is what you have not ordered, it is simple. Behind your system (at the back) you have your express service code and service tag no. Call 1-800-Alienware and give them your details (in the process of your call, choose customer service). As far as I am aware they are only from Monday to Friday, 10 am to 5 pm.

You could also try in the process of your call to get to the technical support and while you give them your details and system information, they will guide you through some information. Always I have got very professional team over the phone, try to be calm and courteous, I am sure that everything will work out just fine.

But, if you have the glossy screen (already I have mentioned above about it), there is no reason to worry except that I do not know if you were supposed to get the 3D glasses as well. There is a guy on youtube, has an unboxing video with his system and he does have the 3D screen. Have a look at that as well. Best of luck!

Hi there, yes the 3D glasses should be in the package. They were either missed or they shipped you a non-3d model. You need to call the support line, they will check it out and sort out what needs to be done.

If you right click on a blank area of the display and select Nvidia control panel (not sure if this is the same in win 8?) , there is a set up 3d option. See pic. If you do not have the '3d vision notebook' dropdown then in all likelyhood they sent you the wrong model :(

Edit: Your original order should say something like 'Display : 17.3in 120Hz w/ 3D Bundle WideFHD (1920 x 1080) Truelife LCD' if you ordered the correct model. You have a limited time to report the error and get a replacement FOC even if you ordered incorrectly.

I have a 120Hz display AW17. What comes in the box is actually very minimal - the 3D glasses box, the AC Adapter, a small black thank you note and a CD-size envelope with a few paper items and the resource/recovery DVD (if that was ordered for your system).

If you're missing the glasses - check the NVidia control panel - and if it doesn't have the Stereoscopic 3D tab - then they shipped you the wrong display.

I also found that AW kept the amount of extra bloatware pre-installed on the system to a minimum - which was a pleasant surprise. Saved me time in only having to uninstall a few items. The McAfee started having problems within the first 24 hours - after the system was running for 4 straight hours doing something with McAfee - I uninstalled it.

OT here I know but that's (package contents) another reason I haven't got a new one yet. My R3 and R4 came with some AW branded goodies and it does add to the box opening experience. Never wore the hat but the padded AW sticker is perfect for the back of my phone and the mouse mat just adds to the whole aesthetics. I guess as long as the machines are great it does not matter but...

On the bloatware thing it's good to hear they haven't started that as well, we pay enough to stop any of those 'deals' being installed!

If you got the 3D version and no glasses and you are within the US or CA, send us an e-mail to [email protected] and we'll help you out. If you are outside of those 2 countries you will need to contact your local technical support team and they'll be able to send those out.

Thank you This is just a minor thing for him but I will emailed them.
My son was over joy with his new Alienware 17 he cant wait to get home from school today and start messing around with it.
He going to installed diablo today , should he install it on the 256 msata drive to make the game boot and run faster?
If he installed the games on the 750 gig hard drive does it boot up same as the 256 gig msata ? the reason I ask that because
the 256 gig will filled up real fast .

Now he waiting for the 200.00 promotional gift card so he can buy some new released pc games.
