So I am setting up my m17x R4 and it keeps telling me I dont have the right 240 watt adapter plugged in. When I use the old one from my r2 everything works fine.

Does anyone know how I can identify the one they sent with me to see if its the wrong one? There are so many dang numbers on the thing...

I have a feeling its the wrong one as the cord (the DC end that plugs into the laptop) is much thinner the the old one I got with my R2.

    Pain in the @$$.

Well I called AW assuming they would need to send me a new one and the guy had me do a powerdrain and the problem went away. Maybe I am lame for not thinking of that in the first place but hey, I figured I'd post the end result incase someone else has this problem.

Be careful. It starts with requiring power drains, and eventually comes to needing a replacement brick. Happened with my r3.

    By doing these steps:
    • unplugging the power cord
    • removing the system battery
    • unplugging the CMOS coincell battery
    • and pressing the power button for ~1min.

After these steps your BIOS settings will also be reverted to factory state.

Then what is it called when you do all those steps, minus the CMOS battery? I thought battery, cord, power button was power drain.

When my m14x wouldn't charge anymore, AW support just had me unplug the power adapter and just press and hold the power button. They solved it. I did not need to mess with any cmos battery.
