You have 21 days to return it, if you aren't satisfied I'd put in a ticket and if it is not resolved return it and repurchase another, good luck.

Try tapping it gently with a q-tip , otherwise known as "cotton bud on stick" , it`s worked for me a number of times.

Im sorry to hear that. Unfortunately dead pixels (e.g. black pixels) are much harder to fix than stuck pixels (bright pixels). If I were you, I would call Dell customer support and tell them your issue. After all, its not just some cheap laptop, but an expensive Alienware. Tell them that you can accept a LCD replacement (even though its against their dead pixel warranty) or you will be returning the laptop for a refund.

    Take note of the following:

Make sure you talk with customer service, technical support is unlikely to help you with the dead pixel. Also, make sure that if you are returning the item, that you DONT pay the restocking fee. They will try to put that onto you.

The old Alienware is not coming back. Face it, Dell needs to stay competetive. Its not really such a huge deal if you need to replace a LCD screen...

well i just phoned about mines, the policy isnt 'alienwares' dead pixel they use its dells apparently! -.- i argued and threaten to sue, so they said theywill send a tech round once they replace one of my cards and if its more than 3 pixels i can get a replacement -.-

i spoke to them ( i could swear and all but you get the picture) and the tec passed me to customer care who passed to tec each time requesting laptop number etc i went ballistic and they would get it sorted the next day but ive never herd of uk having dell eng on site, but im of to my daughters gymnastics comp on sunday so im travelling tomorrow i told him so i have to ring monday and they will send someone round to change the screen.... by the way i do not beleive them for one moment, im so disapointed its not even worth swearing, dell taking over a/w is bad in my opinion as this is the 3rd a/w laptop and its the only one ive had issues with. :(

on a side note rgb screen is good :)

you should be very happy right now. No other hardware company I know of would replace the LCD screen with only 1 dead(black) pixel. Usually you need to have at least 3...

Also, Next day service is part of the advanced warranty, so thats totally normal. I had a service engineer come to my place twice.

Thats not a good idea sure you paid for "accidental" damage but it's ppl like you that make Warranty prices outrageous and warranty coverage crappy. Be civilized Dell has a great Warranty policy. Smashing it in 20 pieces is not going to be a good idea especially if you just got it. You can't get screwed cuz you paid for a warranty and Dell will be obligated to fix it.

well if they dont fix it its going to be a one way journey i think, and to those who say its only one dead pixel .....£2000 i paid for this after discount as well with this all singing rgb screen woooooohhooo.... with a dirty black spot ?. now this might be ok for £500 laptop not this much. alot of money to me that is.
if it aint right .... its wrong :( but ill see next week it might all be ok :)

I agree with you a hundred percent you pay good money for a laptop and it should come to you non-defective, But their warranty policy on a pixel is not the greatest you can always get a refund and re-order if what is supposed to happen next week falls apart.

Why do people say 21 days???

You have 30 days to return and Alienware system and 21 days for Dell systems.

Dead pixels are covered by the warranty so even down the road if you happened to have dead pixels they would come and change your screen.

How do you know they are inferior to the LG? Do you have reviews to prove this?

I disagree with that. The old Samsung LCDs were infamous for their light leakage and washed out look. The LG had better colors, but was dimmer and no light leakage. Now the new Samsung RGB LED screens have changed that. No light leakage and you have the bright screen with great color reproduction.
