not sure everything is running smoothy with new machine?

he guys got my M17x yesterday and have run a couple of benchmarks the 3dmarks06 seems about right for out of the box but im not so sure about the vantage score, looking at scores for thM17x online show a huge gap between the two...

and this is the one that seems really strange only 6000 in vantage!

 

definately the stealth mode. And don't say it's not on, because it is

EDIT: Just looked at scores, and it's odd that it is decent for 3DMark06, but not Vantage, I still say it's stealth mode, but I wish it posted GPU/CPU scores.

 

yeah it seems very strange, i ran them back to back, i ran 3dmark06 and then straight after ran vantage, so your saying that vantage really is low?......how can i check stealth mode?......when i look at the battery icon it says "high performance"

 

.... You see where you have eject, volume, etc buttons? The very last one w/ gauge is the stealthmode button.

Brighter light = On
Dimmer light = Off.

You want this to be off, so keep go back and forth and you will see the difference in the light.

 

ok stealthmode definitely off so then the obvious question is why is my vantage so low?

 

ok so im still having problems with this vantage....

Ive downloaded the stealthmode application and have a green alien-head in my tray.....

Ive checked CCC and have a ticked box next to my "enable CrossFireX".....

and i just ran pcmark vantage again and have scored 5800, this seems way way off to me, do i have a faulty second card?.....what else can i try before calling Dell?

We both have pretty much the same system specs.
Your right your Vantage score should be about double what your getting. I just ran a quick vantage run and got 10 - 11k. With a heap of things running in the background. I didn't bother with a fresh clean run. However if I recall its a little higher on a clean run. Also I remember others saying that if you just run the GPU tests we should be getting around 14k for the GPU score alone. High 13k to 14k scores.

Also I noticed that your pics show you are running on the new vbios and dells beta driver. You said that you tested it right out of the box? So you didn't update those things yourself? If so when did you get the machine. This is interesting if they shipped you your new machine with those 2 things already installed stock.

Okay now to your problem. If you want while you run your Vantage test run next time have the Sensors page running 1st in the background on HWiNFO and paste up a pic of that on here. Then we can have a look at whats going on.

A few other forum members have had similar issues to yours however with different applications.
Try running a few different games and see if the output is the same or similar. See how they run, slow sluggish or quite well.

Only thing I can suggest really is to uninstall the GPU drivers, restart into safe mode, cc cleaner and driver sweeper ATi within safe mode and then re-install the drivers clean again back in normal windows mode.

Open up CCC settings and click the set to default factory settings. Check crossfire is enabled. Disabled it and then re-enable. Restart machine. Check in GPU-z again that Crossfire is indeed enabled before testing again.
Also you can try to enable Catalyst AI and set it to Advanced, if you have trouble set it back down to standard. Others have tried to use similar methods to like the above to solve their issues so hopefully they will workout for you as well.

Try running tests again. If its still bad then the only thing I can think of is you have a bad crossfire cable or defective cards. One or the other might be.
Will have to call dell for replacement cards. Hopefully its not that though.

hey thanks for taking the time to answer my questions, i asked for the beta vbios and drivers to be installed when talking with the customer service.

that was the strange thing, every game Ive played so far, BC2, SC2, JC2, SUPCOM2 all run max settings and a dream.....but.......

as to my problem with vantage, a friend here pointed out that i was running PCMARK vantage instead of 3DMARK vantage, so im downloading 3dmark vantage as well speak.....yes i am that stupid

so sorry for the worry, ill post results tomorrow regarding 3dmark vantage hopefully ill get normal scores.

 

If your game performance is all right, why do you need to have good benchmark scores?

 

well benchmarking ones system is a good way to see that everything is working as it should....I.E i have a CrossFirex set-up and a single HD5870 seems to perform very well in games, i wouldn't really know if the CF is working correctly via in-game methods but running benchmarks and seeing ones score compared to others is a good indicator to see if the system is working as it should!!

 

ok here's the 3dmark vantage score seems to be in line with most people's who have a similar config....

just brought arma 2 operation arrowhead, Ive heard its very demanding so it should really test this machine

 

i was thinking of getting that... hows the multiplayer? ...and how does it run on your machine?

 

only played 30mins so far, the boot camp and half of first mission, its not like any game Ive played before, very team tactics based, but so far very enjoyable, haven't played any Mp yet, but will do over the next couple of days with a mate, well i have maxed the game and it runs very well indeed, not sure of FPS but if you want i can do some benching of it for you tomorrow just let me know.
