The only reason not to get them is compatibility. Some people with the 460m's report it not installing right. And HDMI in is broken for some reason.

Reasons to download them from nvidia is that you get all the newest game optimizations. Especially for BF3.

460m works perfectly with the 290 beta drivers, unless you are doing benchmarks or really need the HDMI-IN, use those. :)

I've been searching for the past hour for my new M17X R3, I have a single 580M. I just got this last week and the drivers are from July. Can't decide between the Dell Beta driver or the current Nvidia ones. Do the newer drivers help with the throttling issue?

Widezu, I want to answer your question yes :) I didn't see any post on single GPU scoring as much as you did in vantage :)

Oh that seems like a lot to do. It's sad I just got this laptop and I have to do that. Does it go away 100% for sure?

Well it gets rid of the throttling which happens around 65C. If you don't have that, then you can't fix anything. The 78C throttle is not fixable but preventable.

Oh ok, I'll have to look into that. So which drivers does everyone use? Still deciding between Dell beta 285.62 and Nvidia 285.62...

I'd use the more current drivers if you are using either an m17x r-3 with the 460m or 580m. you can find those here :)

I can confirm this as well.

As of 285.79 beta, Nvidia seems to have added official support for the m17x with the 460m. :)

    When I receive my m17xR3 580m :)
I will use HDMI in to add another screen to my works lappy when I work from home, Works lappy is 1680x1050, m17x has 1920x1080 much more screen real estate when you use both. :)

I'm sure there are other viable uses for it as well.. May be able to sneak a bit of gaming in... Can you switch HDMI In On/Off on the fly????

I downloaded Nvidia's 285.62 for my dual 280M in my M17X and during setup when it checks for current compatability, it keeps coming up with an error saying no it could not find compatabile hardware. Currently running 266.58. I thought I read your suppose to get it from Dell or Alienware??

Man, count me as one. I chose AW over Asus G74SX BECAUSE of the HDMI in. I need dual monitor and I'm only having one at home. It was either a laptop or a monitor and AW is giving me both. I practically use it every a day or two actually. :D

I still use stock driver :D Should I use the Dell beta driver? And regarding the HDMI in, I use it from time to time and I'd like to use what I've paid for. :/ Not cool Dell.

Thanks (also thanks bigtonyman) ...worked like a charm. I was looking for a modded inf for it. Just didn't know which was best. I'll give it a spin and see how BF3 runs now :D
