its usually close, unless times when you order a more in demand part or in other cases a certain chassis color wont be in like red so tons of systems will be sitting just waiting for a week or two for there nice chassis when the black systems are flying of the production at the correct EDD date and sometimes even can come a few days b4... its hard i know... best thing to calm the nerves is to set up the email alert system to tell you when events happen on the account, hope this helps

Honestly, it depends on your location and configuration. There are people who have received their R3's weeks before the EDD(like myself) and those who had their orders delayed for up to a month or more after their original EDD. I know it's hard to have patience when waiting for an R3 but rest assured you will be emailed as soon as it has shipped.

My estimated date was May 9th and I received it April 26th with the specs listed in my signature. Please note that the colour I ordered was black and I took stock RAM and hard drive.

This is what I've observed on these forums in the last month.

If you order a Stealth Black R3 with 6970, your order will likely come anywhere from way before your EDD to perhaps slightly before it.

If you order a Stealth Black R3 with 460/3D, you may get delayed (see signature).

If you order a Nebula Red R3, you may be getting delayed as well.

Unsure how Nebula + 460/3D plays out, but it might be pretty bad.

Take that with a grain of salt as things do change, but that's the trend I've observed.

If you want the red model do not let this bring you down. You will be much happier with your gut choice even if it takes a couple more days~!

I know how nerve-racking waiting can be, but hang in there. Don't trust that EDD too much, and keep calling every couple of days to check progress, sometimes you'll get reps who can speed it up if you're lucky.
    Ordered 4/8.
My (initial) EDD was 5/13 using the online tracker, and it came on the 4/21. (Talked to reps to speed it up though), but as many people have said it'll also depend on your configuration. See my sig for my one.

Haha just give yourself a month and really don't think about it. It'll never arrive if you keep dreaming at night.

I have a question if I try to get my laptop built faster and my edd sooner will that affect it's build quality? To me getting it faster is nice but whats more important is that it doesnt have alot of defects that ill need a dell tech to fix.

I highly doubt it, cuz they don't rush anything over at dell...well, they do rush, but your demand that they rush isnt going to make it any faster (realistically). And yes, everything is still done on an assembly line I assume, which explains everyone's bad QC.
