different clocks for different cards there dude. 580m is wayy faster and runs at a lower clock speed. 560m is basically just a beefed up 460m. ;)

Im able to run a 960 clock and 1500 memory core all day as long as i have the fans on high or a cooler under it. i can run 935/1500 without any real extra cooling, other than using Mx4 paste.

I am attempting to use MSI Afterburner to overclock my GTX 560M but whenever I click apply on the settings they revert back to the default settings.

I have updated the settings in the MSIAfterburner.cfg file for UnofficialOverclockingEULA (I confirm...) and UnofficialOverclockingMode (1) but still I cannot overclock the GPU

Core Clock remains at - 775
Shader Clock remains at - 1550
Memory Clock remains at - 1250

    I have an Alienware M17x R3 - Core i7 2670QM

I have the machine connected to my TV and want to use the overclock to play State of Decay with some nominal settings on the TV as currently the game runs very laggy to my 47" without setting the settings to very low.

    Any suggestions :(

with max OC on this GPU you will only gain 3-7fps on some demanding titles, what I would suggest you is to try nvidia-inspector and then try to OC

Just wanted to jump in and say that if you plan to overclock you should always be looking at the temps, We don't want you to get any issues with your rig caused by overheating. Here is an article about that!

Tested and I have the same results as when using MSI Afterburner.

If I move the slider below the default or above the default, as soon as I save the changes the changes revert to the default settings.
