I recently found out that the palm rest on the right side is slightly bulging out of its original place in the middle. It is fine on the left side. Is this a common thing ? If not do you guys have any suggestions ?

    Thank You !

Hi, how familiar are you with disassembling the laptop? You may find either a screw is missing or a loose one is impeding the rest and causing it to bulge.

Theres a disasembly guide and video floating about. I'll see if i can find it and post it.

    A good disassembly video here:

Alienware M17X R3 Swapping RAM - Easy guide on changing RAM on the M17X R3 - YouTube

    And the service manual here:
    http://support.euro.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/Alw_M17xR3/en/SM/index.htm

Take your time and see how it goes.

Nothing looks out of a place to me in your pictures. Assuming you've reassembled it correctly, perhaps your palm rest is warped.

    +1
Was it like this when the laptop was shipped to you?

Well thats easily sorted. Pick up the phone, call Dell and demand either a replacement part and a little compensation (doesnt hurt to ask) or a new Laptop. :D

Hi prabhu! Your picks are ok for me :)
Other owners of M17X R3 have they the same troubles?
Should ask the other owner of M17X R3
If everyone have this, i like to say it's normal! Not?

    looks better :D

But you should still chase up a replacment part. For such an expensive rig, its unacceptable.

Even if your outside the US, its not unreasonable that they redirect it to where ever you are in the world at there cost, since you spent a fair amount on a top of the range product.Ive got to be honest, i'd e livid. I'd have em hand deliver it to my door wrapped in a ribbon.
