So since using my blu ray drive to play movies I have noticed there is a huge amount of pixelation. The screen practically looks obnoxiously fuzzy. I know this is not due to the quality of the monitor because 1080p youtube videos look flawless which is ridiculous that a blu ray doesn't have the same quality.Even online content in netflix looks better than the fuzzyness I get from blu rays and dvds. So I'm starting to think this is a problem with power dvd. Would paying the 100 dollars and upgrading to power dvd 13 fix this issue possibly?

Try total media theater before you go blowing your feria on PowerDVD. I got TMT because it performs well and it interfaces with Windows Media Center so there's some degree of seamless function.

A company representative is telling me to purchase another software that didn't come from dell? *gasp* lol.

I will try it. Maybe I can get a trial of power DVD 13. The up scaling on the trutheater for DVD makes it worse. Not sure how that is possible. DVDs that look perfect on my tv look like on my laptop so definitely a software thing

I meant to say that you can try any of them with the trial and then acquire it if you like it. It's just a personal opinion.

Don't buy PowerDVD. They stop providing updates to the old products after they release new version(that mean every year). So newest blu-ray disks not working due to lack of DRM/certification updates.

Does this mean that AW machines with BluRay factory fitted do not come with the appropriate software to play BluRays at 1080P ?

That's pretty poor for such a premium product.

Cheaper machines from other manufacturers tend to come with the right software

Yeh, well, i paid extra for this Blu-ray player so i'm sure as hell not paying and extra £100 or whatever it is for the software.

So I liberated a copy instead.

Yeah I need a new program as well my Freeware PowerDVD doesn't work anymore because they stopped providing updates so I can only play old blu-rays not new ones :| Despite not paying for the software it's still annoying I feel once you buy software they should continue to provide basic updates to maintain it's functionality :|

They only need to provide DRM/Certification updates to old versions. However Cyberlink completely ignore previous version owners after every new release and keep sending spam to tell us we need £50 upgrade. I have AnyDVD, so personally lack of DRM updates not an issue for me. My recommendation is install VLC/MPC-HD and use AnyDVD to remove DRM/Certification issues.

Use AnyDVD to remove DRM from blu-rays. Then you can use old PowerDVD version.
