    look at core speeds? :)
if that doesn't tell you anything, 2820qm is 2nd generation also known as sandy bridge and it is better...

    With overclock:
940xm/920xm (same cpu when overclocked, only different stock speed)
    2820qm

    Without overclock
    2820qm
    940xm
    920xm

Yep, the 920/940xm are great chips (especially when OC'd with throttlestop)

Throttlestop on the 920/940xm can enable turbo on all cores. That itself is enough to bring it up above the 2820qm level.

920xm/940xm oc'd via throttlestop are beasts. They can beat the 2820qm with some decent overclocking. The 2820qm is in a league of its own when it comes to stock speeds, crushing the others.

If you want maximum power, I advise 2920xm (optional overclock or not) on the m18x. That will beat everything stock, and toast all of them when oc'd

For an enthusiast, the 920/940xm are going to have more raw power using throttlestop.

For the casual user who doesn't want to screw around with overclocking, the 2820 (or the 2720) will do quite well. They also run cooler I believe.
