Just wondered if this is normal.
I updated (or rather a AW tech remoted my system) the other day to bios a07.
I have been into bios upon boot and it indeed says A07.
System information in windows shows AW X30 ????????
Is thhis normal or has something not quite worked correctly? - it all seemed to go well whilst i was watching but wasnt sure why they say two different things for the bios version?

Wow that could be the engineering bios not released to the public with many powerful overclocking options, can u take a pic of your bios performance options and also upload the bios file so some of us can give it a try

Im not so sure its anything different - i mean i watched the AW tech guy whilst he was remoting my system - he went to the dell website and clicked on the a07 download and then ran the.exe from that.
Just seems odd to me that indeed in Bios it says A07 but Using the sys.info from the start menu, it says X30....
Anyone else running A07 possibly check out if they get the same??
EDIT: This is just a thoght after dong a bit of googling....have read that x30 bios is relative to the m15x?? - anyone think that the AW tech flashed my bios with the wrong one? - i mean he was in and out of the dell drivers site quite a bit and was having problems with one of the drivers (ITE driver as i recall wouldnt work from the m17x page so he got it from the m15x page) - he may have stayed on that page and flashed my bios with the m15x version?
The other thing thats odd is that i KNOW that my bios was flashed to A07 using the R276847.exe file as its in my library - this was done on 16th August but in system info, it says under bios version - x30 and gives a date of 29th july?????
Not sure, but just dont know why they would show two different things in bios/sys.info -
Can you make a back up of it and upload it? Might be work poking around in and maybe tinkering for someone with the right knowledge.

If someone "experienced" can tell me how to do that i am willing to try....but you will have to be quick as this system goes back in 3 days! -
Download a program called Winrar, and install it. upon completing the installation, right click on the file and click on add to archive. It should then be in a rar file. Upload it to a storage website, like box.net(You will need an account) or any other and give us the URL. If you require any help please tell us.
This will be a huge improvement if it is indeed the engineering bios we saw a few months ago
-
If it's indeed the file he says it is, can't you just get it here ??

Hi guys....
I think ive done this right....let me know if it has worked ok or not....here is the link to the uploaded file on box.net.
R276847.rar - File Shared from Box.net - Free Online File Storage
But, like lan said, im sure its readily available via dell support ?
This was the file used by Aw tech to update my bios to A07....was done on 16th August and the tech did it via remote.
Please let me know if this is right or if its of any use.

Checked the release notes, and this is what it said
A07 System BIOS Release Notes:
1. Added support for the new Intel® K-0 stepping CPUs.
2. Implemented Intel® EMRR support for K-0 CPUs.
Going to try it out soon, Although it didnt mention the new overclocking features... -

Hope its of use.....dunno if its anything special or not but you guys are welcome to try whatever you want with it............just let me know how you get on huh? -
This is not special bios its the standard A07 bios. The one you are looking for is the engineering bios X13 this is the special one.
I have checked my system information and indeed it says x30 in the bios information.
Sorry to spoil things...... The engineering bios will be leaked one day i just hope its sooner rather than later.

I personally didnt think it was anything special but was unsure why my sys info was displaying x30 as opposed to A07....sys info showed A06 prior to this update hence my confusion as to why it wouldnt show A07 instead.
So your sys info shows x30 too?? - when i phoned AW today about it, he didnt know why this was (mind you, i might have got a "noob" possibly).
Sorry im not the beholder of the magical bios guys...... -
Yea goodstone you are right, i got excited thinking it may have been that X13 bios but i guess its not.

Sorry to get your hopes up Shaq....so if your running A07, do you get x30 in sys info too? -
LOL, according to your responses it isnt the engineering bios. Anyways thanks for the help
Some day we'll get our hands on that bios
-
i dont know why it says x30.
i have taken screenshot of sysinfo in bios. perhaps there has been 30 different revisions in the last 7 bios updates.Attached Files:

maybe its kinda like future hope or something for that x13...
I doubt there were 30 revisions
-
or perhaps it includes beta versions which were not released to general public.. like software versions (1.01,1.02,1.03.... all still version 1 but a few more tweaks).
its only a thought..
quick question re:a07 bios......
