Sorry for hijack your thread. I'm in SSD market too. I'm thinking about adding a 64GB SSD into my "order processing" R2. And I have some questions:

    - My system will only come w/ stock ONE 250GB HDD. But I heard that R2 will come w/ 2 HDD bays regardless of the number of HDD you configured online, is that correct?

    - So if it comes w/ 2 bays all I need would be buying a SSD then pop it in right? If it only comes w/ 1 bay where can I find a bay for the 2ndary HDD slot beside ordering from Dell?

    - Can someone recommend a good 64GB SSD? Intel are so expensive  while other models can be bought for around $90.

The system should come with 2 HDD caddys. If it does not, the problem is easily/quickly fixable by a phone call to alienware tech support. This should be located in the wiki pages.

I'm not entirely sure about a "good 64GB SSD" for "$90". The best I could recommend personally is a 50gb vertex2 for 160 dollars or so. SOME intel are expensive because of the type of SSD it is. SLC are very costly but MLC are more affordable and are (IMO) starting to close the gap performance wise (due to the internal controllers being used?)

The $90 is the OCZ Onyx series. However I think this ine is better since there are a lot of people praise for it:

Newegg.com - Kingston SSDNow V Series SNV425-S2/64GB 2.5" 64GB SATA II Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

    And thanks a lot :)

Edit: Oh well I could not care less about storage capacity but on the other hand $$$ is an issue. So that means I can opt for a better 32GB for similar price as long as the gap in performance is noticeable on the R2. I'm not really into high performance SSD since there were a lot of performance issues w/ SSD on R2. But if problems ended then high performance is a must :D
