Hi, my problem is when my lid is closed I can move it side to side about 1/16" - 1/8" without much force. I have babied this laptop and It has been very well taken care of. Other than that everything seems fine. Thanks.

There are four screws under the hinge cover that hold the LCD to the main body of the laptop. You could see if they need tightening. Two long screws on the underside hold the hing cover on, then you must (unfortunately) pry it off. BE CAREFUL! Once you get the hinge cover off, you'll see the hinge screws. I hope they are good and loose and your problem is easily fixed!

Thanks for the help. Sorry I forgot to mention that I already did that, but none of the 4 hinge screws were loose.

Oh. Well that's the only thing I could think of. Let us know if you find anything out.

Does anyone know how hard it is to replace the hinges? From what I have seen I think I can do it and I found a set for sale for $14. Also should I call customer service and ask them to send me new hinges (I only have the basic warranty) because I am sure that my problem wasn't caused by me.

Yeh give dell a call and see what they have to say. They might even just send out a tech with the hinges and fix it for you.

    Cheers. :)
