now im new to gaming laptop atm i have a asus(forgot the model name since its been awhile but its around 17 inches and has lightning design on it) ive had ot for so long and havent had that many issues with it. atm im looking for another laptop just as durable so i came across this one which i liked. i customed one with everthing preset except everthing that they listed for gaming. (note not all where alienware recommended.) the total came out to about 1929 US dallors. (i live in jersey) so what i wanted to know how durable it will be. ive seens lots of problems with this laptop in this forum but im not sure if its because u all put high powered things in it. and not the average stuff.
p.s. my laptop is 5 years old and it is from the asus republic of gamers so i know its a gaming laptop and i paid around 800 new for it from best buy. im about to spend 2000 for a new one so plz direct me to other 17 inch durable decent gaming laptop. i play MMO's so it can get laggy at times so ya. also played combat arms for a bit but stoped

M17x R3?
Get the FHD screen and 6990m, rest stock and you are done. -
Well.. in all honesty, m17x's have had a pretty long history of being fine first month and falling apart. My motherboard is already having problems after hardly even a year, and I've had to a replace battery also.
I think mine was bought was presets, not sure though as it was a gift. Anyhow, one of the options for a graphics card on them is the Nvidia 9400. it can run WoW on good/high graphics. Not sure about ultra, though. I would have an exact answer for you, if my computer was working properly. Also get atleast 8g of RAM. I'm not uber smart on all the specs, but 8g of RAM and 9400 are just fine for wow.
I am talking about the regular M17x, though. If you're looking at a R1, R2, or R3 can't help ya there. -
Agree. Get the 1080p screen and 6990m and you're done.
Mine was one-year old last week and has never had a problem of any type. I bought a 3-year warranty with mine for piece of mind (and recommend that you do also). The M17x R3 is powerful, hot, and expensive to fix so I think the extra warranty is a smart move.
Best piece of computer hardware I have ever owned. -

The R3 is the third revision since Dell owns Alienware.
The middle option seems the best bang for buck. You can get that cheaper if you contact a sales rep.
EDIT: I looked at the US site. What site did you look at? -
-
The middle option shows me 2199 dollars. With a bigger HDD and a way better GPU. But no blu ray, you could add that. You should be able to get that for 2000 or even less.
You can contact sales reps through the chat option or 1(800)7657179 and ask them to send you a nice quote. -
-
GPU is the videocard, the 6990m is way better then the GTX560m.
You could choose the first option add the 6990m, killer and blu ray drive. Total: 2154 dollars.
Ask a rep. for a quote. You can go to the Alienware site and click the chat option right now. -
-
The 2229 option has a 1TB HDD, the 2154 option has a 750GB HDD. Rest is the same on both systems.
I would recommend the 2154 option since you dont want to spend more then 2000.
Chatiing with a rep. right now, will send you the details.
EDIT: did not work, need to contact them yourself. -
