so ive been looking around and my final choice for a main laptop for college and gaming is the alienware m17x with 6gb ram 320gb hdd and the amd 6970 gpu

INTERNAL OPTICAL DRIVE Slot-Load Dual Layer DVD Burner (DVD+-RW, CD-RW)

it all comes up to $1900 with tax included but im guessing i could call and haggle the price

my question is, is this a good build and are there any other laptops out there with the same capability but less flashy ?

Try ordering over phone as members have said deals can be done there. Or maybe try the outlet. My system came in around 1800 taxes and 2 year CC warranty upgrade included.

As for any other models I have no useful knowledge there.

Its Dells Outlet store. Only issue is you cant customize the systems. Whats on there is what you get.

It depends on where you live too. Outlet is usually for USA only. You can add your country to your id on the left
