Thats not completely true, you can still get a UEFI boot provided your USB drive is formatted to GPT. Google this. You should get the answers your looking for.

On my AW17, I have Acronis running nightly backups of the C drive (SSD) to the HDD - so that I always have backups of the system disk and critical files wherever I go (so far, I haven't had to use them, fortunately).

In my AW backup, I have a USB memory stick with bootable Acronis to do an emergency recover, if I ever need it.

To boot off USB, you may have to get into the BIOS and change the boot settings to get the USB stick to be recognized - that's what I've had to do on my tablet which also has UEFI boot support, and probably is the same for the laptop.

You should be able to boot from a USB flash drive in UEFI, but first, you need to make the flash drive booteable, this article explains how (I'm sure there are easier ways to do this if you google search them), after that is just as easy as entering the boot menu by pressing [F12] during POST and selecting "UEFI Path USB xxxxxxxxxx".

hi, I think both is ok. I wonder what is your tool?
because my backup tool is aomei backupper, and it said AOMEI Backupper Helps to Create Bootable CD or USB Flash Drive in theire website, when I encounter your question, I visit it at once. AOMEI Backupper create Windows PE Bootable Disc, Linux Bootable Disc
So, that's what I could help you.
