Unfortunatly mate, Powerdvd 9.6 doesnt support Bluray play back. Annoying i know. Powerdvd 11 does, however, work, although they want summin like 50notes for it.
-
see if you can find a copy of Arcsoft total theatre, it seems to be nicer to deal wth than powerDVD 11.
-
Personally, since i ordered a blu ray player i feel its only right the software to use the friggin thing should be as standard.
I used "other" means to obtain the right software, i suggest you save money that you have already spent and do the same. -
Well what do u know! I just did that today...Lol!.. -
I tried it and 9.5 exhibited the exact problem for me that the OP describes.
I got a 9.6 disc from one of the many we have lying around in my office and installed it and have been playing many Blu-rays on it without incident.
Driver issue, perhaps? -
See if you can find PowerDVD 11. Works great.

hey guys but powerdvd 9.6 start screen says it can play blu ray and all ......when i first insert the disc it even says loading bluray..... i tried playing the bluray with vlc and home media player too no luck yet......
-
Because you have to constantly update software to keep up with the copy protection. Its easier NOT to buy it...
-
guys im facing same problem even with powerdvd 11......help me out :-(
-
Have you tried it in a player?
-
it works perfectly on my PS3

I had no idea that Avatar will not play. I brought this yesterday while away on hoilday
store policy on movie and games is no refunds.
I was somewhat able to get the movie to start on my HP i7 in my sig, but the picture playback was full of corrupted images and totally unwatchable. This is version 10.
With the M17 R3, that I have just tried it on even with the update for Cyberlink 9.6, it just tells me the disc is not supported.
Really sucks, as I only have laptop blu-ray players, all the other blu-ray movies work fine. Now I am stuck with this movie that I will never be able to use with my laptops by the looks of things.
Anyone found any free software that will allow the playback, or does the firmware in the actual blu-ray itself need to be updated? -
