I have a alienware m17 x fully loaded with 4870 cross fire and a q9300 extreme besides changeing the proccesor and video crads to 5870 would I get better performance all I do is watch movies and burn them to disc and check email I do like the r3 from what I heard thinking leaving this one alone and take money for upgrades and put towards a r3 what do you guess think. Also is my screen a rgb led? Easy one: Do not upgrade, as you don't really need to. Save your money for something new later on, when you have hindsight and can use all of the knowledge you will collect between now and then. You will be much happier buying the latest thing when you need it later and have the money saved than you will be doing small piecemeal upgrades to an aging machine that you don't heavily stress.

I agree. You won't really benefit from a new R3. Save money, wait for the next gen SSDs to come out, then pop one in and be happy :)

R1s are solid machines if you know how to treat them especially with these specs.

Yep with a well equipped R1 or R2 I think you would see such a small gain that it would not be worth the cost to upgrade parts again or going to the R3. I would wait for the next version (R4 or whatever they call it) and by then it may be a larger jump in performance.
