Hi is it possable to upgrade a M17xR3 3D laptop with a GTX460m to a GTX580m and have the 3d function work now that A08 Bios is out? Will any GTX580M card work? or do I need to buy a dell gtx580m ?

    No..

The VBIOS is required for the 3D emitter to work correctly.

There's no warranty that a non-Dell card will work with a Dell VBIOS. Has anyone already tested this on a 580m from a different manufacturer?

Unless you have the possibility to recover your card in case the card doesn't work with the VBIOS it's not advisable to do such testing...

Not to disrespect or anything, but IMO the 580M card is overpriced..

True, but you can't use an AMD card with the 120Hz screen because of BIOS restrictions.

Considering an ES 2920XM they are like $300. Jumps to $799 for QS.
