I want to upgrade my r3 to a blu-ray drive so I can try some 3D movies.
I looked on eBay and see a number of options. The main one seems to be the Pana uj-225.

For those that have upgraded, what did you buy/what do you recommend?
    Thanks!!

Slot Load Blu Ray Players that are Sata leave you with like 2 options. However if I were you I would not bother going with a Blu Burner and aim for just a Reader. Burning Blu Rays just isn't really worth it with what the prices of HDD's are running for these days (External) and the utilization of Esata on the side port. Rarely would I suggest using a blu ray only if you wanna play the disks onto another blu ray player that is not your PC would I suggest doing this, but the odds of that actually happening or being efficient/necessary would be like 1 to 10 I think... Take it from me as I have EXTENSIVE blu ray usage and $$ invested into Blu Rays the burner aspect isn't worth it. It would have been worth it given certain circumstances occurring, but it just didn't pan out that way.

Yeah, I totally agree that a reader is all that I need and that is all I am really only looking for but when "googling" I'm only finding reference to the UJ-225, which is a reader/writer.

Do you have any good reader only recommendations??

I'd go with this, if it was me. I think this should work Dell X043H Slot-load Blu-ray CA10N SATA H853D GRADE A ! | eBay

Note: I think you can save money if you try other places, however I've had my fair share of non-working Blu Ray Drives bought from Ebay (King Fisher) and I would pay the extra $20 to have a guaranteed working drive anyday of the week, After enough shipping back and etc. it just isn't worth it... and you don't save anything and just lose out on time wasted and moneys wasted.

Don't buy a blueray player. Get all the parts and build it yourself. It is way cheaper and smarter and very easy.
