    hey guys,

Im just curious to find out if anyone has an idea of what could possibly be causing the usb connect/disconnect sound when i open my lid and put my password in from sleep mode.

i dont recall this happening until recently. theres nothing attached to it when the sounds are made. the only thing i have ran usb wise was a wireless logitech mouse which is currently not plugged in or anything.

i noticed a logitech startup assistant in my startup list, i disabled it but i would also like to get that out of the registry if possible.

    thanks for any help,
    steve

ive had the same issue since I got my machine back from the Dell Depot. Its not a big issue for me personally since my machine is either fully shutdown or running. ;)

its not a big deal for me either but i would like to see if i can fix it. i dont like having things act up on it if at all possible.

i just did a restore to right after i did my factory install again a few weeks ago, ill give it a test run in a second and report back my findings.

    EDIT: that didnt help

I think it has somthing to do with the display turning off when the lid is closed? Could try plugging in an external monitor and shutting the lid and seeing what happens. Maybe ill try it here in a few minutes ;)

Edit: Looks like the sound is from the display turning off when the lid is closed(if I close the lid with an external monitor plugged in, the only display that comes up in the device manager is the external), not sure how to fix it. :(

after testing mine a couple more times:

it is doing it after the password has been put in and the background is loading up. It was probably 5-8 seconds after the password was put in and enter was pressed. my screen already had the background on it and most of the stuff was started.

it must be something with hardware that gets initialized when it starts up for me. maybe it is the second hard drive getting read in again after it sleeps. i would think that it would do it on initial startup then though?

it seems to have stopped doing it. I still have the logitech assistant that boots on startup disabled and havent used my mouse for a few days. it must have something to do with having my wireless mouse attached during a startup, sleep, or shut down.

mines back again... any ideas on issues? im going to contact AW about it later this week. I tried last week and they said the computer was not in my name yet so i had to fill out the form online and resubmit it with the info from my service tag. freaking tards were supposed to get that fixed when i was redoing my computer a few weeks ago.

wish there was a way i could send this one in and get another refurb... I dont have the full coverage i dont think and i dont have any major hardware problems that would result in a new system. it didnt do it before the fresh install of windows and the drivers. I dont have any open usb issues with drivers or anything and i have just about everything that could possibly be turned off or disabled done already.

    anyone figure this out yet?

i was told it is probably a windows issue and would require a fresh install again since tech support couldnt really help me after the diagnosis stuff didnt show any issues.

im not really in the mood to do another fresh install after messing around for a whole weekend the last time i did it. :(
