Well, i'd hold off for just a bit. The GTX 780M announcement is imminent. If you're going to upgrade, may as well make it the best on the market.

what are the upgrade options for a R4?

can you wack on any IB or haswell cpu and any next gen gpu or what?

i know the R3 would not take IB cpus or the bios was not accepted to take them so not sure what holds up with the R4.

you cannot updrage to a haswell cpu in the r4 without changing the motherboard, which is not even available for a r4 yet. The best right now is the 680m, but its very expensive, you should be able to find one for about 500 to 600 bucks on ebay or the NBR marketplace. The 780m will of course be better than both but it all depends on if you want to wait and see if the 780m will even work in the r4( it should unless they change the MXM type, which i doubt)

You can get the 7970m in there without issues, you will need the heatsink and support plate also. Send us an e-mail to [email protected] and we'll review your request ASAP.
