    weird issue

    I reloaded the os on a new SSD i put in it but now the switchable gfx doesnt seem to work and i loaded everything off the cds.its reading my 6970 as a standard vga graphics adapter but everything else seemed to work so idk why. im on vacation so i dont have any of the driver cds with me so links will work better for me.

    I would go to Dell's website and take a look at what they've got for your model of laptop. I personally would never use the CD they supply either. If you go into your Device Manager, do you have any of the little yellow symbols indicating that something is not installed?

    In addition to that, how does that model switch graphics? Is it a touch-sensitive button, or a function key? Do you have OSD installed? Is there a BIOS option that disables the switchable graphics?

    Standard VGA usually means that you're running a Microsoft driver too.

    You might have forgotten to install the GPU drivers. I would give a link to the driver, but someone at Dell/Alienware really messed up the driver page! :eek:

    EDIT: Its not just the m17xR3 driver page that has nothing, I checked all the Alienware computers and a few Dell and they all had 0 drivers.

    ok so i have it installed but it still seems to be having issues for example i cant run splinter cell conviction on low and its still having issues ... another problem i have with playing splinter cell is the keyboard and touch pad seem to have issues of almost lagging on that particular game. another game that it seems to have issues with is civ 5 which is struggles at medium setting it just doesnt make any sense ?

    Edit: the input issue for somereason wont let me push more than 1 or 2 keys including the buttons on the touch pad. i also cant seem to update the drivers with anything other than what dell provides on there website.
