Hey guys, lately i've been noticing that my current Alienware 17 laptop has some annoying volume issues. Mostly whenever I leave my laptop on for more than day or so, my volume would soften a lot if i am to open apps like vlc player or any games. unplugging and then replugging in any usb seem to work but the volume goes back to low if i am to reopen the apps again. Has anyone else encountered this issue? My communication settings has already been set to "Do Nothing" if there are any sound sources and the only difference my laptop is from another stock alienware 17 would be my 680m gpu.

My mate had the same issue with his R4.

Found that it was being caused by the smart volume application that comes pre-installed. Not sure what it's called beause it doesn't exist on my R3, but trying having a look for that and removing it if possible.

Aside from that. Update or Reinstall sound card drivers.

Re install the audio drivers, be sure to uninstall from the device manager or "Programs and features" first. What BIOS version are you using?

    Has this always happened?
I would recommend a system restore to take the computer back to a previous point where it worked correctly.
