For some reason, I used to be able to play 1920x1200 advanced, everything on high, 4x MSAA, 8X anisotrophic filter without that much lag until heavy gunfight. This was all with a single 5870.

Now, I have to revert settings 1x for both MSAA and anisofilter.

I don't know what is going on. I know laptops get worse with heat but I've only had this laptop for 20 days or so.

I know there are many reasons FPS drops, so that isn't the point of this thread. I want to know what are your playable settings with your R2 m17x.

Just list your video card please.

    Thanks

That sounds like a problem, I'm running (single player at the moment) Maxxed out 8xMSAA and 16xAntistropic. (5870 Crossfire)

Very little framerate drop (unless huge explosions popup)

What did you change on your PC since the last time you ran it with the previous settings? Possible you might just need to reinstall the drivers for your system. Or even something is bogging down your system (check your processes for anything causes load). Could be a virus?

Either way going from playable at one setting to not playable at the same setting is a problem doesn't matter what video card setup you have. UNLESS of course what was playable earlier in the game is no longer so because your in a larger more detailed environment that forces you to downgrade your graphics. (such as later on in the game vs opening)

I have all settings maxxed out... Every once and a while my computer will use 100% of my ram and you have to turn everything down... but the best way to do this is to restart your computer right away, because your ram is taking a beating. this usually happens with giant file transfers for me atleast every once in a while.
