Do it your self its easy and yes the antennae X3 are in there even if you get the basic card

Newegg.com - Intel Ultimate N 633ANHMW Mini PCI Express Ultimate N 633ANHMW Wireless Adapter Up to 450Mbps Wireless Data Rates 64/128-Bit WEP, WPA, WPA2

Why when you have it open you can put more ram into slot 3 and 4 at the same time

The main differences are speed and range, the higher ones will be faster if your router also supports the faster transfer rates. IE if u get a wireless 'N' adapter and your router is also wireless 'N' it will be faster... to a certain degree.

Your internet connection can only go as fast as your ISP enables it to be, but it can help alot with moving files around on your home network. Also if you get a NON-3D m17x and want to use WiDi, a wireless streaming solution that uses the i7 cpu + (I think u need the 6300?) to connect your computer to your tv etc (with the right adapters / hardware).

This is only some of my limited knowledge of the differences and I apologize if anything isnt dead-on, but these are some of the general differences I know of. For more info check out the m17x R3 Owners lounge, theres info in there if you look, also in the first post Batboy has links to various threads about the R3, FAQ, Widi and WiHD info, etc.

If you are leery of removing your keyboard and installing one yourself (It is pretty easy) I would suggest getting the WiFi card from them u think you will use/need. You will pay about a $30-$40 premium over what the card would cost you to buy and install yourself though.

I've never had the balls to ask this question myself, so kudos/thanks to you!

Always assumed what MJOzolins said tho: Range & speed (with proper router). I would also imagine the 3x3 cards offer more stability - but stability isn't really an issue these days (at least not for me).

Check out intels page on their wifi cards, it's full of info and what each card can do and what it can't do.

    Intel® Centrino® Ultimate-N 6300 – Overview

You do not need the 6300 for widi, any of the intel cards that Dell has options for the r3 currently will support widi. If you are unsure use intels page and look for the features for the wireless display. Best bet is to poke around the different cards and compare and contrast.

Edit: also note that getting the 3d bundle r3 will currently disable your intel graphic chip, taking one of he things you need for widi out of he equation. I know that is not part of your original question, just want peeps to be aware of it if they see widi and think it is an option on the 3d bundle, because of he current design of that bundle, widi won't work with it.

    Yeah

WiDi = Sandy Bridge processor, Intel GPU working, and ANY of the Centrino 6xxx cards.

If you want to move about, and get the best signal as you so, OR live in a house where Wireless is a hard thing to get across it, I'd go with the 6300, which is the 3x3 interface they're talking about.

¹ Up to 8X bandwidth increase or up to 450 Mbps of bandwidth is based on the theoretical maximum bandwidth enabled by 3x3 802.11n implementations with 3 spatial streams in combination with a 3 spatial stream access point.

If you dont have a router with 3 antenna's capable of 3 spatial streams, dont waste the extra money.
