does anywhere have a recommendation on where to buy a new battery for my m17x r2? common sense says to get it right from dell, but it does not show up on their site. either i'm dumb, or they don't sell batteries for this model anymore.

i'm skeptical of buying one off ebay. i've bought chargers off there that cause static on my television and interference on my radio. i've gotten good batteries, and i've gotten crap batteries off there. i'd prefer not to gamble.

does anyone know if dell still carries batteries for these, or know of a reputable place that sells them?

dell chat assistance is a joke, eh? i waited 20 minutes with them. i got these messages for the first six or so, then it just left me staring at the screen. i expected more from dell. last time i used chat assistance it was on the corel site. their agent was smart, quick, and gave me a $20 discount on top of the $50 discount for no reason

You can always call the Alienware 800 number. Use your R2 tag and you should get straight through to someone in the AW dept that wants to sell you something. Chat is a complete waste. I wanted a 120hz model but couldn't find it. Got told they no longer build them. WRONG, I just needed to find the right base model then it became a config option. Dumb operator, could well have thrown away a $3K + sale!

on a happy note, the tech at microcenter said he thinks he can get me a battery from canada. it will take 2 weeks and cost appx $44. i'll go this route if my PC is too old for the alienware tech line.

thank you! i called the 1-800-ALIENWARE.

i was greeted by a foreign sounding guy i could barely understand. after about 3 minutes of chatting with him and 15 minutes on hold, i was transferred to another foreign sounding guy i could barely understand. he told me that i have a nine cell battery and i should go on ebay and amazon and look up C852J and W075J to save money. that's literally all he had to say. i was polite and spoke in a friendly tone, he was polite as well. there just wasn't much to be said i guess and no batteries for these for sale.

i guess i'll just go to microcenter and get the $44 battery.

i'm really dissapointed after dealing with their chat, email, AND phone assistance. they used to be the best, but it seems that now they kinda suck.

That's a shame to hear, guess they really do not have any stock or intention of getting it :(

The US often goes to Purto Rico (jeeez the forum autocorrect inserts a google advert for P_R) (covers both Hispanic and English) for AW support but it sounds like they have moved it again (India?).

Good luck with microcenter, $44.00 sounds a good price to me :).

    Sry for the bum steer....

no no, i appreciate it! thank you. and it likely was puerto rico. the first guy, i believe his name was Miguel. i just assume they always make up names, since most companies send you to india and they say they're named something american sounding, like jim, john, or dave. LOL

Too funny :D. When I worked in the States we outsourced level 1 support to India. One task? Get rid of those unpronounceable names and use locally recognised ones! If they could shorten it to a three letter name that was fine as well.

Don't think that would be allowed in the UK.
