Looks like 900p to me. It it was 1080p then it would read LCD:17.3FHD.

    17.3? HannStar Display model HSD173PUW1-A | eBay

Bit you said in another thread (which I can't find now) that Dell wants 700!!! for a 1080P replacement screen. Check out that link. The eurocom/sager/clevo/Origin/etc(all the same computer's just different names, in fact alienware used to use Clevo too) are very helpful finding parts and upgrades and this is one of the people that can help you find what you need at a reasonable price. $50 or $700!!!?? Like I said the ones I was looking at where about 150 and this is a 17.3 and a 60 gamut model so it's not an apple to apple but it's close enough(FDH LED 1080P 250-275 candles) to show how much Dell is OBSCENELY out of the ball park on what these should cost and whilst still being able to make a reasonable profit.

Yes Dell do charge a tonne more money however your facts are slightly skewed. First of all, the screens Dell use are 72% gamut and secondly, when Dell sends a replacement screen, it comes with the hinges and the assembly with the glass already glued to it therefore increasing the cost. I know it isn't worth $700 but $50 won't cut it.

I guess what I am trying to say is that if one wanted to spend $50 on a 1080p panel, they'd have a real hard time getting the old panel out of the assembly and the new one in and will most likely break something.

Personally, I'm waiting for either 120Hz IPS screens or the 120Hz lightboost monitors the Toshibas seem to only have.

They're not skewed man. I understood the Dell was higher that's why I acknowledged it was quite apples to apples. The 90% with a matte finish I spoke about in another post(another thread) was 150-170(again not apples to apples since it's a better monitor but the point is just as strong if not stronger). If Dell was at 200-225 I wouldn't even chime in but $700 is totally unreasonable. So is $200 for $50 dollars of ram but it's not as difficult to resolve the ram issue.

Having the screen mounted does have value and I've never tried to replace just a screen before so I can't speak to the likelihood of something breaking. It sounds like you have so I'll defer to your experience. I had hoped it would be a simpler upgrade for him. It's a shame it's not but if I didn't already have a 1080 I would likely continue to explore an alternative install to Dell's 700 dollar option.

Of course, I do not deny that Dell's 700 charge for it is outrageous I was just saying that $50 seems optimistic that's all :) Plus sometimes reps are just plain stupid and may have quoted a wrong price.
