hey guys, I'm looking to pick up a nice new M17x R3 with the Nvidia 3D vision kit. At the moment I have a 3 year old optima projector in my room which I'm looking to replace around the same time I buy the laptop. Well browsing projectors I noticed that the optoma HD66 is a 3D "ready" projector. ( Optoma HD66 720p Home Theater Projector Review) I did some more research and couldn't find out how to actually use the 3D capabilitys of the projector.

I figure, if i hook my M17x up to the projector using a VGA cable and throw a 3D game (or blu-ray) in the drive i should be able to view the game/blu-ray in 3D on the projector useing the nvidia 3D glasses.

what do you guys think? would that work? i think it should due to the fact that the nvidia glasses are paired with the laptops video card which is the thing processing the video. any help is appreciated! thanks.

you can't use VGA for 3D, you can use HDMI or Dual Link DVI, but yes you CAN view 3D up to 720p on the projector using that setup.

Thanks alot! I guess I will just have to buy a nice long HDMI cable to replace my Current VGA.

My only concern with the HDMI is the "optoma 3D-XL" box that optoma clams you need to view 3D threw on the projector. Any thoughts on that?

    Thanks again LVNeptune

Don't worry about that, that is their adapter to use DLPLink Glasses, trust me...I have been through every set up imaginable already :)

I have an HD66 myself it's really nice on my FAVI 100" screen.

There's some cables on amazon, I spent like $14 on a 15 or 20 foot HDMI cable that is really good quality.
