I wouldn't pay that much for it to be honest
The Dell Online Store: Build Your System

Dell is selling M17Xr3+GTX580m 2GB for 1599$ NEW and you can even lower the price more when you call, can always sell back M17xr3 after you take the GPU.

Seems like dell is getting rid of GTX580m so GTX680m might be getting released soon (rumors anyway says Jan 2012)

I don't think that Dell are getting rid of the 580m specifically. I bet they lowered the prices just to shift the sales of the systems to get ready for the R4 Ivy Bridge refresh.

@ravenite, I know for a fact that Eurocom backpate screw threads are for screws much much smaller than the Dell ones. I know a seller on ebay that may supply you with the correct backplate.

Edit: Oh and no 580m is worth the money really unless you like overkill. Do you really need it or do you just want to be top of the boards :D?

Do you have any links for those rumors? (I mean I am really curious) I read all over the internet that it is Q2 2012, and it will be a mainstream to enthusiastic release (gtx 600m family)

Wow, that starting price is tempting for new. I just got my refurb that is not the cleanest for $1350 with the i7 2860QM, 8GB, 6990M, HDWi, 1080p. I wonder if this base system with the 580m and just a 1080p upgrade would be worth it instead.
