Just had a quick question for some of you who have used the two operating systems. Which do you think is better for gaming? I have both OS and decided to install windows 8 on my new replacement system and im installing drivers right now.

Windows 7 has the greater compatibility with existing and older games - and there probably isn't a significant difference in performance between Win 7 and Win 8 in most cases.

However, I'm running 8.1 on all of my systems - and not having any problems - and really appreciate having the much faster boot times that come with 8.1.

I mean you've already installed 8. Not to turn this into a Windows 7 vs 8 thread, but it really boils down to what you've used more and what you feel comfortable using. Personally, I don't think I'll ever go to Windows 8 on my main personal computer, I really don't want the hassle with relearning the UI, and Windows 7 works. All my machines have lots of RAM and all have SSDs (except my main Sager, which I will be getting an SSD), so the better memory management and booting up faster mean nothing to me. I don't like Metro, and I don't like 3rd party software to give me the traditional start menu, so for me, 8 is just a big headache. That and some drivers will be tricky to install, though if you have a relatively new computer, you shouldn't have a major hassle, mostly will be older hybrid switchable graphic drivers.

You're already using Windows 8, there's no point in downgrading. Same thing goes for Windows 7 users - no sense in upgrading, yet. The only game that benefits from it is Battlefield 4, and even that game has issues across all operating systems. I tried myself and didn't notice any improvement over Windows 7, so I went back.

I agree with this ^^, both OS work just fine, no need downgrade, there might be a few compatibility issues with Windows 8 right now on some games, mostly older games, but nothing major.
