    windows 7 repair install concerns on custom M17XR3

    Hi I recently upgraded my M17XR3 to a 680M graphics card. I flashed the VBIOS to unlock them, installed a custom graphics driver with the .inf file fixed.
    My installshield has become corrupted or just freezes when I try to install some games.
    I was looking at using my windows 7 installation to disc to perform a repair of the main components and hopefully fix the error I'm getting.
    Anyone know if this will screw my setup?
    It seems to be playing up when I tried to install the latest updates for windows with The update for Kernel - Mode Driver Framework version 1.11 for windows 7 for X64 based systems (KB2685811) and the second failed update was Update for user mode Driver Framework version 1.11 for windows x64 based systems (KB2685813). When they install you have to restart and it always fails to install them and reverts back to previous settings.

    I then tried to install assassins creed 3 and Street Fighter X Tekken but both installshield programs freeze and SFXT gets this error message:
    Error number: 0x80040708
    Description : (0x80004005) unspecified error.
    Set Up will now terminate

    While AC3 gets this message:
    Error number:0x80040708
    description : the server threw an exception.
    set up will now terminate.

    So my question is: Can I use the installation disc to repair my computer and get installshield working again without losing all my hard work?

    UPDATE tried to do repair install anyway but it wouldn't work saying try to restart and update the programs. Looks like I'm screwed eh?
