    Have had problems with laptop freezing when the power leed is conected or disconected when laptop is running.

    this has now changed and works since i have istalled 10.5 drivers.

    however it now will not boot on battery gets to window logo and then shuts off as if ran out of power.

    battery has 3 lights on it.

    also there is cronic flicker on all games and if its alternate frame render one frame is ok and the other has no vertical lock and the result looks like a tv with image hold problems.

    I have the same issue at times....I believe the last BIOS update had something to do with this....I can try to dig up the link/post. IIRC if the voltage is too low it will not start. I can charge the battery all the way up & it will start on battery everytime though. What steps did you take to get 10.5 to install? I've tried a few of the suggestions here but have had no such luck myself.

    Install Ati cat 10.5 making sure its the mobile version
    then look for this

    C:\ATI\Support\10.5 \Config (at desktop and dont have exact file name)

    open file InstallManger.CFG

    using notepad change line
    WorkaroundInstall=false

    to
    WorkaroundInstall=true

    then save it making sure that it saves as a CFG file

    you may need to change the pull down menue when saving from txt file to all files to ensure this

    then re run the the instalation from the ati support file where it was extracted to

    Appreciate it! I could have sworn I did this....I was in a rush to get back to work so I probably just didn't save the file correctly.

    I also have problem starting computer from battery (with 5% OC in BIOS; have not tried it with OC off yet). My battery was fully charged.

    Is over-loading the battery the explanation?

    Most likely it is overloading the battery. I did notice flickering using high overclocks using the a05 bios so i reverted back to a02 and no flickering :D

    So, unless DELL releases another BIOS update to address this, either revert back to A02 or don't boot with the battery? I had A04 and now, I can't find it on DELL.
    If the computer is on and running, I can unplug it with no problem. It's just booting from battery from complete off.

    Have you tried the a02 bios? Did you try different video drivers?

    Have not tried A02 yet and I am thinking I may now. The computer is no good if I can't start it in battery mode. I am currently using ATI 10.5 video driver.
    I had A04 BIOS when I got the computer. Does anyone know where to get A04?
