Why is your Windows 7 so slow?

Its certainly possible to downgrade to XP but as far as I know not all the drivers are available for XP especially if you want to use the 64 bit version (for the 4GB support)

If windows 7 is slow on the m17x then your doing something wrong :)
Either it's infected with a virus or you've installed some crapware which is slowing it down.
For the record a fully updated copy of XP these days consumes a very similar amount of resources as Windows 7.

Windows XP has zero advantages over Windows 7. If 7 is slow for you, something is wrong and XP won't help a bit. :)

Well the only thing I can suggest based on that description of the problem is to scan for viruses and malware, remove all crapware that might be on it, defrag your drive maybe, and maybe try cleaning the registry. We can't really suggest anything more specific until we know more specific problems besides "it's just slow."

*Clean install will fix many problems (but very time consuming)
*Registry cleaner (use correct version (bit) for your OS)
    *boot time defrag-diskeeper software
    *defrag hardrive-diskeeper software
    *scan for virus/malware/worms/spyware
    *lighter AV.
    *try updating dell drivers
    *windows updates

Over time your registry becomes corrupted. A clean install or cleaner will fix this. Sometimes cleaners are too agressive and will delete necessary files so there is risk.

I agree with Jester504 give people as much information as possible.

Not sure why respawn is not working. Something to investigate.
