I wish you all the luck and you do look like you got a good deal there :D

As to 'quality', in my experience it's a bit of a crap shoot. I've had 3 M17x's. First went straight back with a broken MB - the HDMI out only worked if I held the cable in a specific way (obviously tried different cable), The second had numerous problems and when it started to lock up buzzing I got this one as a replacement. Now all fine and dandy.

The price of these seems more related to high-end parts and brand; and the fact that they probably cost dell a lot to support - home visits from engineers are way expensive for them! On the plus side they do take ownership and don't just try to fob you off, see if they will also give you a fresh warranty with the replacement, I asked and got

    Good Luck ;)

The only thing I worry about after reading is my warranty. I worry about getting the system and having issues. the warranty on my xps expires the end of June. Maybe Luis can help with this?

Original warranty will be what new laptop would take over, but you can extend it by calling and paying for it.

You should check the price before shipping your old laptop in, it might be cheaper than extending it for the M17x ;)

I thought for 3D that you needed the 680M? So if you haev 660 - Not sure on point of the 3D panel. however - if they are not charing any more - not an issue ;) Just think that if you expected 3d - you need the 680.

if the 660 supports 3D and I'm wrong - please pipe up guys...

All the NV cards support 3D, only the performance hit is the issue. My 675 works great in 3D, just loaded up metro last light and at high settings 3d is superb (and it has alienFX keyboard lighting control, creepy when all the light out, out but I digress!) ;)

Upside; you get a 120hz refresh even when not using 3D
Downside: no intel GPU (optimus) so less battery life, but for me on power all the time, this is a plus not to have to deal with it :D
