    Hello

I would like to hook up my M18x r2 to my LG monitor. Is there away to run it @ 2560x1600 resolution?

I cant seem to find a Divi-d to HDMI cable on amazon... I only see dvi to hdmi.

Whats the best way and what do i need to use my 30 inch monitor with my laptop at full resolution?

Connector format and supported resolution isn't my strong suit, but won't a regular HDMI cable work? Everything I'm reading claims that HDMI supports 2560x1600.

You want a DisplayPort cable (most likely) or a dual-link DVI (not likely). Various cables and adapters exist for DisplayPort.

Most Alienwares have a mini-DisplayPort (mDP) port. You want a cable that feeds that (mDP) to the DisplayPort (DP) on your monitor. Maybe your cable has a mDP end and a DP end. Or maybe you use a DP cable, then put an mDP<->DP adapter on one end (this is what I do).

I, personally, have not had luck running 2560x1600 using HDMI. But admittedly I haven't tried it except once or twice. I, personally, haven't had good luck running dual-link DVI converters either (normally around $100). But tried and true displayport works OK. Also for desktops with dual-link DVI, those are tried and true and works as well.

Maybe i jumped the gun. I ordered these 2 components. I think the Display Port is probably better. Would this work?

According to the information that Aroc provided, you should use the mini display port. However, any input that your monitor has should support its native resolution.

Can you provide the model of the monitor?

Alright. So the adapter you purchased is exactly what you needed. In theory you should be able to run at native resolution with that setup, but I don't know what kind of issues the crossover between DVI and HDMI is going to cause. Hopefully none. There are also different quality levels of HDMI from what I'm seeing; as in the ability to run at higher resolutions and refresh rates with the nicer ones. Like I said, I'm no expert. Keep us updated though.

All you need is the mini Display port to display port cable to run from your R2. You'll get sound run through it too.

The monitor in the link just has DVI-out though.
