I am trying to upgrade the cpu on my Viking and keep getting 4 beeps when ram is in channel A.
If i remove the ram from those 2 slots the laptop boots fine.
Reinsert the old 4700 cpu and both channels work , poss a bad cpu?

Check all pins for any dirt or slight bend, but it points to a dud CPU.

So I had this issue when I bought a MX4940 off ebay. I returned it and got a MX4940 from another seller and issue was resolved. I say it is the CPU.

I bet you got my returned CPU lol, that would suck.

edit: I just checked my history, it was MX4930 not a MX4940 that I had the issue with.
