just noticed that the spare 7970m i have on the shelf has a NV100 heatsink on it, i figured i put it on there by accident but after looking around i can't find an AMD heatsink anywhere so am I ok to use this one? i don't see any parts of the card that are not covered by the heatsink

this is the primary (left) heatsink

They are the same heatsink except for the black tape. Most guys just cut all the black tape off the plate area that makes contact with the gpu die. Just make sure to clean the heatsink up good to get any residue from the tape off.

I have been using AMD heatsinks on Nvidia cards... so it should fine, just make sure everything is contacting properly.
