tried clearing out CMOS...still 8 beeps no boot...m18xr2 980m UEFI windows 8.1
do i need to hook up an HDMI display in order to be able to boot into bios?
-
ok i tried connecting to HDMI TV and nothing happened =/. is my only option is to put another GPU in and boot and then switch back to the 980m??
-
i put in the 560M and it says "cant disable legacy rom no mxm GOP driver" O M G ...does this mean i have to use a different GPU like a 780m?
-
use whatever card that came with the laptop from the factory.
-
tried 560m didnt work because no UEFI, now trying 7970m but i guess i have to flash UEFI vbios...anyone have a link?
-
ok here is what i am doing - 7970m trying to flash it with a UEFI vbios, i found one but the vbios editor VBE7 disables the UEFI part of the rom when you change the vendor/subsystem of the rom...but i NEED to change it to the right ones before flashing....
the vbios on the 7970m is not UEFI compatible and won't let me disable legacy rom in bios
help -
ok the happy ending to this story was flashing newer vbios onto the 7970m, switching the bios from legacy rom to UEFI then putting the 980m back in
-
Blood sucking monkeys from Pittsburg. That sounded very scary. Glad it worked out.
-
You could have just removed the 980m and used the integrated graphics to switch back to full uefi......
980m - enabled 'Load Legacy ROM' now 8 beeps HELP!!
