    980m - enabled 'Load Legacy ROM' now 8 beeps HELP!!

    tried clearing out CMOS...still 8 beeps no boot...m18xr2 980m UEFI windows 8.1

    do i need to hook up an HDMI display in order to be able to boot into bios?

    ok i tried connecting to HDMI TV and nothing happened =/. is my only option is to put another GPU in and boot and then switch back to the 980m??

    i put in the 560M and it says "cant disable legacy rom no mxm GOP driver" O M G ...does this mean i have to use a different GPU like a 780m?

    use whatever card that came with the laptop from the factory.

    tried 560m didnt work because no UEFI, now trying 7970m but i guess i have to flash UEFI vbios...anyone have a link?

    ok here is what i am doing - 7970m trying to flash it with a UEFI vbios, i found one but the vbios editor VBE7 disables the UEFI part of the rom when you change the vendor/subsystem of the rom...but i NEED to change it to the right ones before flashing....

    the vbios on the 7970m is not UEFI compatible and won't let me disable legacy rom in bios

    ok the happy ending to this story was flashing newer vbios onto the 7970m, switching the bios from legacy rom to UEFI then putting the 980m back in

    You could have just removed the 980m and used the integrated graphics to switch back to full uefi......
