Catalyst 11.11drivers are out now/soon check the site for the technology update
Well here we go again, are we going to get drivers that work with brightness settings? Let's hope so! Curious of everyone's performance with these drivers.
*Edit* they appeared for about 10 seconds and disappeared, but they should be up any minute.
EDIT2
Do not TOUCH these if you have the 6970M's. It BSOD right when you get to the windows boot screen.

-
I've tried them, but I get bsod at every restart... I went back to 11.9...
edit: my m18x has two 6970m... -

edit nm, this driver sucks for me rofl (not going to even install it). STILL NO SKYRIM CF SUPPORT LOL.
-
all i get is blue screen every restart... i dont think it will work with 6970's.... now i have to go through calling dell and getting 6990's or going green....but how...
-
CptXabaras Overclocked, Overvolted, Liquid Cooled
BSOD for me also upon restart, after driver installation. Back to 11.10 for the moment....
-
it looks like this new driver wont work on our 6970's.
back to 11.10 but trying 11.11 cap1 for saints row -
CptXabaras Overclocked, Overvolted, Liquid Cooled
On the release note the driver supports 69xx series cards. It not the cards. Anyone having success installing this drivers so far?

This is getting ridiculous. People, go to twitter and let them know that we are having issues. I have, along with my friends. I'm sorry but you need to support your products after launch and a recent trend of sub-par driver updates is not sufficient. As a long time AMD supporter they're beginning to lose a customer and considering how many desktops I build you would think they would want to keep us happy. So frustrating.
-
Dual 6990's here on my m18x and blue screen, in the file atikmdag.sys. 11.10's work fine.
Funny thing is, when I removed the 11.10's I got a blue screen, and now with the 11.11's I got a blue screen. And to top it all off, still no CAP for Skyrim.
After having multiple blue screens due to driver related issues since I got my m18x, not supporting Crossfire immediately on probably the biggest game of the last few years (Skyrim), and watching my friend have terrible Bad Company 2 load times thanks to their drivers (This was when it first came out), I'm not even going to look at AMD for future video or processor purchases. Lost a customer for life because of slow, buggy drivers. I was (and now still am) a hardcore nVidia fan, and they had one chance to switch me and they blew it
Oh well, stuck with them now for a few years until I can afford to replace these things. -
The one posted is not for mobility meaning they have desktop specific drivers.
Here is the correct one. Direct from AMD.

Edit: Now my control centre won't load. Says I'm now missing a .dll. I'm so done with AMD. -
-
No BSOD on my 6970's, the 6990's don't have an OS running yet so I cannot test those.
I will play some games and check back to you guys
EDIT: Brightness controls do not work but to be honest I never gave a BEEP about them.
EDIT2: Hmm CCC shows the driver version as 11.10 so mharidas your link might not be good. I will restart my machine yet again after I shower. -
Guess we'll wait until AMD corrects the issue. -
Make sure when you install them the install package reports the driver as "checked" for installation.
The problem sometimes comes from the lack of clean start before you install the drivers.
I am unable to restart now as I am in the middle of work to test these. -
back on 11.10 pre 3 -
OK, I am the dumb fella here, I posted the incomplete link.
If you notice the extensions, it is missing the 'dd' in the ccc_ocl section, which means the DD (display driver) is not included in the package.
I have a lot of links in the history and I posted the wrong one by accident.
The complete link is as follows:
http://www2.ati.com/drivers/mobile/11-11_mobility_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc_ocl.exe
I am testing this right now. Will keep you all posted. -
Ok the driver is detected but when you tried to install there is a INF missing. AMD has to look into their packaging they are missing a vital INF file.
This looks like a rushed job, not sure how you can miss a INF file like that. -
it's AMD what do you expect ;p
-
Well I not going to say they suck because of this. Missing files have happened to even Nvidia back in the days of the Geforce 2s. VIA, S3 graphics you name it.
In big companies screw ups are going to happen when many engineers and technicians are involved. It would be proper for AMD to acknowledge this and put out a release on the fixed packages.
For now 11.11 is a no go without that file. I shall be searching for the INF and see if can pull one from the desktop package and compare it with previous mobility ones and see what INF is actually missing and whats in this INF. Because the base install INF is there, the one missing is a sub INF needed to complete the process. -
Yeah these will BSOD on reboot on atikmdag.sys. Going back to 10.11. ATI needs to step up their game.
Also why is it always so hard to locate the mobility dd ccc driver package? Do they not support it and prefer you go through the 3rd party such as Dell? -
Just tested it forced through device manager. The atikmdag.sys is throwing up an exception because a vital INF file is apparently missing which configures and installs some other files in their correct paths.
11.11 is no go until they sort this out.
I am going to try CAP 1 for 11.11 with 11.10 DD and see what changes, if any, I am able to notice. -
-
I was posting in here through safemode with network services option lol. Now gong back to 11.10 DD and CAP 1 for 11.11.
-
Same lol... Im getting BSOD's with 11.11... Its unfortunate how brightness controll is not working though.
-
-
Yup BSOD. How do I install 11.10 if I can't get out of safe boot?
-
CptXabaras Overclocked, Overvolted, Liquid Cooled
-
funnily enough I just went with "go last know good configuration" or what ever and it came up fine..that or a sys restore..
-
Or just run driversweper from safemode. Works all the time.
-
ah, figured it out. opened device manager and uninstalled both 6990ms from there, worked after that.
Interesting findings though, after installing the broken 11.11s with 11.11 cap1, I got the bluescreen issue. Uninstalled, and reinstalled 11.10 with no cap. Then launched skyrim with crossfire enabled and I was getting the usual 35fps and awful stuttering.
I alt tabbed out, then back in (takes twice to tab back in) and it's running at 60fps buttery smooth. Going to the loading screen between areas causes it to go back to choppy mode. Interesting though, this is the first time that I've seen skyrim at a silky 60fps (ultra, 1200p)... Looks awesome! -
Ouch, yeah BSOD for me too. Hurrah....
Last known good configuration allowed me to roll back.
Back to 11.10!
EDIT:: Well, they broke my system. 11.10 now causes BSOD when launching games or driver stopped responding errors. Same with 11.9. I have done multiple reinstalls and driver sweeps...any ideas? -
I just spent the better part of a night trying to fix the BSODs thrown by those drivers. I think I had the same problem as you (no matter what driver I'd install, the BSODs were still there).
I recommend that after you uninstall and driver sweep, you boot into windows and let it "search" for it's own drivers, because in my case that found some 6 leftover files from the 11.11 installation (that driver sweeper would not find no matter what), files that were being used as a sort of "under-driver" no matter what I would install, hence the BSOD. Using Windows' own driver uninstall feature (on one of the cards) and checking the "delete driver files" box did the trick fine (no need to look for the files manually).
I hope this helps. -
uninstall the whole lot....go through with the drivers at dell...and install 11.10 on-top of them
-
Thanks guys, I will give it a crack and get back to you!
Lucky I brought my laptop in to work today -
Man, I wish I could bring my laptop in to work. Can't even bring in my cell phone!
-
Well, I am sure I am going to get a few looks from my boss
-
So this is interesting. I'm using 11.10 from AMD's site and 11.11 CAP1 and I have my brightness control back.
I uninstalled AMD through the uninstall AMD software.
Boot to safe mode
Control Panel > System > Device Manager > Display > Uninstall both cards and check the "Delete driver software
Driver Sweeper
CCleaner > Registry Check
Boot into Windows
Install 11.10 > Reboot
Install 11.11 CAP1 > Reboot
I now have my brightness controls working beautifully! -
I went back to 11.10 too since I started getting the occasional BSOD.
