Just get the last set of cards and please don't tinker with them till you are comfortable enough around hardware.

All I can do is hope Siggi checks and checks again that the product clevo centre are sending me is of the quality he’d expect if he was the buyer. That way there’s no chance a buyer would ever complain.

Yes I’ve decided the only game I’ll play with 980m sli is solitaire.

Lol no I don’t want to risk crying the cards. Only time I’d play that is if I had a quad 1080Ti setup.

Just to help with the terminology here, because I was also a newbie buyer and seller.
New = new item, never used, no signs of wear and for some products, almost no shelf life.
Used = Item is used as intented since it was bought new and no mods on it.
Refurbished = Item used with damage which was repaired into a state that it can be operational as new.
Backstock = old item that it was never used. It is not refered as new, since it was manufactured some time ago. It has hagh self life.
Returned stock = Item was used as a dispay item. Doesn't have singhs of wear or damage, but at some point it was operational and was stored for later use.
I hope I helped enough.Last edited: Feb 7, 2018Raja786 likes this. -

@ Raja786:
QuadSLI 980Ms with watercooling, otherwise you'll burn them again. -
What if I attached 4 980m’s on to a motherboard and submerged them in a bucket of water. Would that be sufficient cooling? It wouldn’t void warranty would it?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
ofc you'd vid warranty. You're not even allowed to touch them, the moment you touch them they will shatter into pieces and warranty is gone man.

Mineral oil submerged cooling is the $hit now. -
Ok so correct me if I’m wrong.
1. Get bucket
2. Add miniral oil
3. Take a **** in it
Then I’m good to go?

Sounds just about right. -
The question is how you prevent them from shattering when trying to put them in since they are refurbished from stonage.
-
Cool.

Does mineral oil consered as 'new' or 'backstock'?

The case is quite simple, KAPOK reports, installation errors, and the case is immediately closed by PayPal.
But I gave the user the opportunity to decide for themselves.
and he closed the case himself and I will help him as promised.
So, what do you want?
Write something rational on the subject and no BULL SH*T -
Do not worry, I promised you, and I'll help you.

I find it a joke how 3 cards are broken.... U here of the odd 1 card being broken here and there but 3 in a row.... C'mon man what garbage are u selling

Write only if you know what you write ...
OK! -
I do know what I write and I don't think u can make 2 claims on PayPal therefore u could screw him over at any time...

Yes, something went wrong and I will help him too.
You have to become calmer, life is too short to get upset. -
It's not just the fact of replacing the cards... He bought these back in December it's now February still not running... That's Sad... As a customer when I buy something I'm usual excited to get it and use it not wait another 2 months to get it and still not use it...
Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk -
I want to help him.
-
I'm just showing a perspective from what a buyer may think... As anyone can say they will help and never do.... After the first time u helped the only thing he got was 1 decent card and another dead card...

I want one of these cards just to see what the hooplah is all about.

I will try to get the graphics card back
He has received two audited and working graphics cards -
@Raja786 did this scammer finally give you a working set of cards?
Did the EU trade commission help you recoup those shipping costs? -
Cards got to him around 3-4 days ago. Messaged him yesterday still waiting for a reply. Didn’t take it further yet.

I'd say for now just put your hope in the trade commission and probably a bank chargeback.
-
Going to give him a few days as he said he would help. If it comes to that then yes I will have to. But hopefully it shouldn’t.

Apparently he's in vacation.

He messaged me 2 days ago asking for tracking info. Let’s see if he replies.

Stalling time to make paypal payments not affected by the bank.
IMO just claim the bank / trade commission now. Less risk. -

Send the cards to me or @Raidriar , we’ll test it and let you know for sure if it’s user error or cards faulty.
-
already offered, but he's in the EU. Shipping would cost a fortune both ways.
-
I’ve sent the faulty card back. But would have if postage wasn’t so expensive, just to get a neutral opinion. Siggi did say he’d post you one didn’t he?

I haven't heard such an offer, but if he wants a third party to weigh in on his cards and clear his name I'd be happy to do it.Rengsey R. H. Jr. likes this.

Here’s the card I received yesterday. This picture was taken out the box.
Card is used in my opinion. When I installed it it was recognised in bios and device manager straight away without me doing anything. Flashed with official dell vbios. Let’s see how long this one lasts. Going to test everyday with atleast 1 hour of light gaming. Keep you guys posted.

Yes it is. Shipped from clevo centre Germany.

The day after posting the screenshots above I got home from work turned my laptop on and was greeted with a blue screen “your pc ran into a problem and needs to restart.” Second time it tried to load again and went into trouble shoot screen. So clicked restart again and got black screen with Alienware and loading circle got stuck. So powered off and turned on again. This time same again and then troubleshoot page. So went into safe mode. Once I was logged into windows in safe mode I opened up device manager and under display could see 2 gtx 980’s. Disabled both and restarted laptop, this time I got the option of going into bios so spammed f2. Once in bios I checked video options to make sure it was in peg which it was. Exited bios and straight into windows. Once in Windows I opened device manager again and only could see intel hd graphics as the display adapter in use. So I went into view and then show hidden devices. Could see both 980m’s. Right clicked first one and got a beep and screen flicker and desktop icons went small like they do anyway. When I enabling second card I got black screen. Tried a few times to be sure it was the GPU I just got the day before. Every time I disable the second card I have no problems but as soon as I enable it all I’m getting is a black screen and not being able to boot into windows. I’m sick and tired of this BS. This is the fourth card I have received which is faulty from clevo centre Germany. I am going to remove both cards and put the faulty card in the first slot to be sure as well as try my 770m’s so people don’t blame my laptop saying it could be 2nd GPU slot that’s frying the cards. Will update.

Just an update. Ended up with 1 card working. Hardcore custom doesn’t want anything to do with the faulty card and advised me to contact clevo Germany instead. Contacted them and they say warranty is void if their cards are installed in non clevo systems which is BS, as they’ve repaired them before. So just for anyone out there thinking of buying cards, please just go through to Woodzstack he is reputable and his cards won’t fry a day after installation. Yes it might work out a little more expensive than others out there but trust me I’d rather pay a little extra and have a card that works so I can enjoy gaming rather than trying to save a few bucks and having to strip your system every other day to take out cards that are damaged and badly repaired by cowboys in the first place and sold as new. Good luck all & Thankyou to all who helped me on these forums especiallyTheDante and DanishBlunt you guys are awesome

It is BS. It should not matter what laptop the cards go into, especially this model GPU. The Alienware 18 has sufficient cooling so it's BS on their end.
-
Exactly. Well at least I know not to entertain them in the future. It’s their loss. Bad publicity.
