Yes, I checked all and also changed SLI cable. It looks like the card don‘t work fine in PEG. With Optimus in Gt70 everything is fine.

Because optimus uses the Intel gpu as the primary card for the monitor while peg uses the nvidia so it seems it's faulty card

Yes, with GT70 and Optimus it works. With GT72 it also doesn’t work.

Dell cards normally have the sticker you see all the way at the bottom by the MXM connector: https://www.ebay.com/itm/GTX980M/323999212982?hash=item4b6fdba5b6:g:QD8AAOSwQpNd5JhR

MSI cards were Green I believe.

If you bought your cards with an Alienware 18 from Dell, they will be Dell cards. If you bought elsewhere, they can be other brands. However flasing vBIOS should change to Dell card.

Looks like those stock nVidia direct models from China. Should work fine in an AW18 with latest bios since these were technically officially offered.

Hello Im Juan Miguel Romero From Spain i got a Alienware 17 R1 With Bios A17. My alienware come with a 880M but after years i upgrade to 980M, What is my surprice that i was getting heat problems and PC shut down random when playing. When i notice the fan was not working i think was hardware problem but fan is working with Fan speed not at maximun speed but atleast i can play.

I made a post on official alienware page https://www.dell.com/community/Alie...t-working/td-p/7658114/highlight/false/page/6

And they send me to here. I think i have same problem as this user from Alienware 18 but im nut sure 100% will be the same so this is the reason why i post here to ask the expert guys.

The Vbios of my grapich card is 84.04.85.00.0D Shall i change to 84.04.35.00.05?

but i got some trouble When I play video game, I get a black screen, and 30 second later integrated graphic card start working so is like this computer have no graphic card but the fan was working

I could make a graphic card start 1 time, but after reboot computer the problem come back

The fan was working but the nvidia drivers was not working cause the games was using intel grapich card

    https://www.dell.com/community/imag...3D8497EA04799E6/image-size/large?v=1.0&px=999

Now i got 84.04.35.00.0A and fan still not working graphic is working so i guess i have same problem as 84.04.85.00.0D

It’s possible that you’ve damaged the card due to it overheating during the time when the fan wasn’t working. Also make sure that you have the thermal pads positioned correctly on both sides of the card and the heatsink is making good connection with the gpu die.
Try to run a gpu temp test while using it to see what’s its doing. It could be crashing due to high temps.

That is not for sure 100% cause fan is working with Fan speed software and was working with 84.04.35.00.05 but was not stable and got alot of errors
