I was wondering if anyone had the issue where their AW18 would dim when using the HDMI input for pretty much everything. I have scoured the interwebs to no avail. I have tried pretty much everything that is out there drivers, GPU settings and using iGPU but nothing has worked. I also have tried Windows 7 that came with it but that doesn't help either.

Currently using Windows 10 Stock AW18 with GTX 770m's (although one has died./is dying it seems) I have tried both SLI and single card as i am not to knowledgeable on whether the HDMI input is using the GPUs at all.

Could the fact that when the 770's are in SLI and there is artifacting within in games have anything to do with it. Is it a possibility that the motherboard is on its last legs too?

Just thought I'd ask around here as there are people who are much more savvy when it comes to the innards of the AW18.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Dim, in what sense? What is dim?

    The internal display?

The attached monitor/tv show a dimmed image?

Have you changed anything on that tv/monitor, or is it a new tv/monitor(model please).

It's the internal display that goes dim. When using the laptop normally it's super bright at max brightness but when I plug in say a ps4 or anything in the hdmi in port and then swap over using fn+f9 combination the image displayed has reduced brightness by at least 50%.

Is it immediately dim, or does it dim after a minute or two?

And is the ps4 dim on another monitor as well?

Immediately dim when it swaps over.

No all said consoles and devices work TVs and monitors that I have laying around.

Do you have something else to test your hdmi input with, like another console, cable box, or computer? if so, is it just as dark?

So I had the same issue, if you hold down your Fn Key + Up Arrow ( or Left Arrow, not at home right now to check ) it will increase the brightness. However the colors will look washed out. Very neat feature but not well executed. Wish other laptops would have done this (HDMI pass through).
