This R2 working until I carried it up the stairs (it was off and lid closed) to test out why my server wasn't pulling an IP from a new Powerline adapter hookup.

I've read about this problem here, and I've tried removing both of my 780M's, tried cleaning (air) the LVDS cable plug and port, pulled the CMOS and drained, and I've even taken the back off of the LCD and re-seated the cables.

Still getting the 8 beeps, with the exception of the 5 beeps after CMOS pulled. The LCD backlight does turn on when I start up the machine.

Any thoughts? Buy a new LVDS cable and try that?

Decided to do a repaste and found that the Coollabratory Liquid Ultra had dried out completely - but it looked like it had still been making good contact with the heatsink. Didn't see any signs that the CPU got too hot, so I repasted it with ICDiamond 24K - still got 8 beeps.

Try putting secondary gpu in primary slot and boot up. Rule out the primary gpu. If it boots bad primary it not try pulling ram and put one in at a time. Or try ram first before gpu swap. If you rule out all this we have a bad system board.

With both GPUs removed I get the 8 beeps, as per first post. I will try removing the RAM and see what happens.

EDIT: All RAM removed - 2 beeps. A different stick one at a time in the first slot - 8 beeps.

Ok, great. Reading through those 38 pages to see if there is a fix besides never installing 10.

Nope. No fix at this point. Buy a new LCD and go back to Windows 7 or 8 is the only option at this point. If you replace the LCD and keep Windows 10 it will end up screwed up just like the one you have now.

This is happening to Alienware 18 owners as well. At least one Alienware 17 owner has also been affected.
